It's been
a particularly wet and warm winter. With spring comes an unexpected
surprise--slugs are everywhere. They are under your deck,
in your garden and even in your bathroom.
You rinse
off your toothbrush and head to the refrigerator for a cold
root beer. Yikes! The slugs got there first. Not only is the
root beer gone, they are more than half way through a plate
of watermellon.
What do
you do? The slugs are here, there and everywhere. How are
you going to get rid of them?
Our advice
is that you eat them. Or better yet, you convince your family
to eat them.
A quick
and simple meal is the slug on a bun. Be careful though. Don't
try to cook the slug in your microwave. They tend to explode,
leaving slug guts all over the inside of your microwave. Our
advice is to just put the slug on the bun live and have a
slug-shushi dog.
How about
breakfast? Ahhh yes, boiled slugs and eggs sound like the
perfect way to start the day.
But, of
course, if you are serious about getting rid of all your slugs,
you will need to be eating them three times a day--so don't
forget dinner and the slug plate special shown here. The recipe
is simple. Cach the slugs, out them on a plate, and eat. We
do suggest not cutting your slugs before eating, as that tends
to diminish one's appetite.
Don't
let your family miss out on the tasteful delights of slug.
Once you get them to close their eyes while they are eating,
your kids will love slugs on their cold cereal in the morning.
There is nothing better... juicier, or squishier. Yum. Yum.
That's
all it takes. Within a month or or two you'll start running
out of slugs. You'll then have to wait another year until
you can once again enjoy this epicurean's delight.
